Economics Department

In 1989, Economics department, the first department of Mofid University was established and in the same year, the first group of students of the BA program was admitted in the field of Theoretical Economics. At present, this department offers programs in the following fields of study:

Theoretical Economics, Monetary and Banking Economics, and Commercial Economics.

 

The Duration of the Courses and the Number of Units

BA program in Economics Department

 

 The curricula of the undergraduate program are arranged according to the standards and criteria of the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology in 135 units. The scheme is as follows:

1. General Courses: the Persian literature, English, Sports, and Islamic education (20 units).

2. Core Courses: Mathematics, Statistics, microeconomics, macroeconomics (70 units).

3. Specialized Courses: Econometrics, Evaluation of the Economics plans (23 units of credit).

4.  Islamically-oriented Specialized Courses: Monetary and Non-interest Banking, Public Finance in Islam (13 units).

5.    Elective Courses (9 units).

  

MA Program

At graduate level, courses worth of 32 units offered are as follows:

1. Core Courses: Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Public Econometrics (24 units)

2. Thesis Courses: (6 units)

3. Elective Courses: (2 units)

 

PhD Program

One of the great achievements of Economics Department was being qualified enough to obtain the required license from the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology to run a PhD program. The first group of students for the doctoral program in Economics was admitted in 2002.

Undergraduate programs are offered in about 4 years, Graduate programs about 2.5 years and PhD programs about 5 years.
